TREE PLANTATION

Tree plantation means planting trees more and more. Tree plantation is very important to maintain a ecological balance and even for our existence. We cannot think of our existence without trees. Trees are closely related to our life. They are our best Friends. They supply us with oxygen which is most essential for our living. They help us in many ways. Trees cover a great deal of our food deficiency by providing fruits and vitamins. They supply timber for various uses. Trees prevent soil erosion. Many kinds of medicine are prepared from leaves, roots and barks of trees. June and July are the best time for tree plantation There are many places for planting trees. We can plant trees on both sides of roads and highways, sea beaches and low-lying unused lands. Tree plantation programme should be expanded to the remote corner of the country. In order to make the tree plantation programme successful, government should encourage people through radio, television and newspapers for planting trees highlighting the utility and the importance of trees.







A BOOK FAIR

A book fair is an exhibition of books. Book exhibitions are held on special occasion like 21st FebruaryPahela Baishakh etc. Different cultural and publishing organisations make hundreds of pavillion to display books publislied by them for sale as well as making a demand for them All sorts of books-novels, fictions, dramas. children's books, reference books etc. are displayed. A book fair becomes crowdy specially in the evening. Both male and female customers of all ages gather in a book fair. The writers also visit the fair occasionally. Seminars and cultural programmes are also held. A book fair reminds that books are our best friends. When we are in danger, books are always at our side. It also instils a love of books and develops the habit of buying books. It is books which help us to forget jealousy. malice and superstition. They change our outlook on life and widen our knowledge.






PHYSICAL EXERCISE

Physical exercise means the regular movement of our body according to rules. It is essential to keep our body fit and mind sound. It keeps our body fit for work. It makes us active. It increases physical strength and efficiency. There lies a close relation between body and mind. We cannot think of a sound mind without a sound health. It is physical exercise which enables us to build a good health. It plays an important role to keep our mind sound and vigorous. It also improves our power of digestion and blood circulation. It lessens fat from our body. It gives strength to our brain. Our brain become inactive and weak for want of exercise. So everyone should take regular physical exercise in order to maintain a sound health and lead a happy life.







A DAY LABOURER

A day labourer is one who does heavy manual labour in various fields. He works outdoors. He is usually employed in the agricultural and construction work. His work needs strength rather than skill. He lives with his family in a slum or hut. He gets up early in the morning and goes out in search of work. He works hard from dawn to dusk. for his employer. Generally, he is paid at the end of the day. Then he goes to the market, buys his daily necessaries and returns to his house. When he gets more work, he earns more and then he and the members of his family can eat with their heart's content. In the harvesting season his work is in great demand and he can earn more. Then he can meet the bare necessaries of his life with his additional income. But in the lean period, when there is not much scope for work, his condition becomes worse. He lives in misery and want. He does not have enough to eat and sometimes he starves. Though the service of a day labourer is of great importance, he is very much neglected. He is ill-paid and can hardly make both ends meet. So positive and pragmatic steps should be taken immediately to ensure jobs and shelter for this poorest section of our population.







A WINTER MORNING

Winter morning is cold and usually foggy. Sometimes the fog is so dense that things at Little distance cannot be seen and the sun remains invisible for a few hours. People and animals are afflicted with cold. Rich people have warm cloths to protect themselves from biting cold. They can allow themselves in the luxury of keeping indoors But the poor people usually have to go out early for their livelihood and they do so with tattered clothes on. So they feel the pinch of the cold very keenly. Village children and people gather straw and dry leaves to make fire and warm themselves. Because of the cold, people generally get up late. So everyone is busy in taking breakfast, dressing and getting ready for going to their respective places. Winter breakfast has a special attraction and charm. People take various kinds of pitha, gur, muri, khoi, moa etc. Date juice is the popular drink of the time. Despite pains, a winter morning is comfortable and enjoyable to me. I enjoy the beautiful scenery of the winter morning and the date-juice with tasty cakes.









OUR NATIONAL FLAG

The national flag is a symbol of the independence as a nation. Our national flag is the symbol of our freedom. It is also the symbol of our pride and integrity. Our national flag is very beautiful to look at. It is rectangular in size. The ratio of the length and breadth is 10:6. It may be made of cotton, linen or silk. The background of the flag is bottlegreen in colour. There is the purple disc of the rising sun in the centre. The bottle-green colour stands for the everlasting freshness, youth, vigour and vitality of our nation. The sun glove symbolizes our national brilliance and past glory. The blood-red colour of the sun is a fitting memorial for the endless sacrifice of our nation in the struggle for independence. We are proud of it. When we look at it, our heart is filled with love and respect for the country. We can uphold its honour by doing our national duty properly and paying due homage. It is dearer to us than our lives.








A TEA-STALL

A tea-stall is a small shop where prepared tea and a few snacks are served to the customers. It is usually found at the side of a road, bus stand, rickshaw stop or any public place. Generally, it remains open from dawn to late night. Besides tea, some snacks such as loaves, biscuits, eggs, sweetmeats etc are sold in a tea-stall. It is usually a small room with a few tables and chairs. In some tea-stalls there are only a pair of long narrow tables with benches set beside them. Some tea-stalls in the towns and cities are big and well-furnished. Sometimes it is decorated with newspapers, cinema or election posters. A tea-stall is generally over-crowded. People usually don't leave the stall after refreshment. They raise a storm over a cup of tea about politics, current issues of interests. It is, in fact, the meeting place of friends, villagers, politicians, advocates and clients etc. Some people particularly idle young men visit a tea-stall to have tea and to pass away their time in idle gossips.







TRAFFIC JAM

Traffic jam refers to the long line of vehicles on the road leading to a serious road block. It is a common phenomenon in the big cities and towns. It is one of the major problems of modern time. It causes sufferings to the people. The causes of traffic jam are many. Firstly, many drivers are ignorant of the traffic rules while others deliberately violate traffic rules. They want to drive at their sweet will. This leads to serious road block. Overtaking tendency also causes traffic jam. Again the plying of various vehicles with different velocity causes traffic jam. Besides the plying of thousands of rickshaws on the busy roads causes serious traffic jam. I feel bored and suffocated during traffic jam. However this problem can be solved by adopting some measures. Well planned spacious roads should be constructed. Traffic rules should be imposed strictly so that the drivers are bound to obey them. Sufficient traffic police should be posted on important points. After doing all these things, we may hope to have a good traffic system for an easy and comfortable movement.







LOAD-SHEDDING

Load-shedding is a regular phenomenon in our daily life. It means the discontinuation of the supply of electricity. Load-shedding occurs when generation of power is less than the demand of the people. It may occur at any time without any prior notice paralysing the normal life. It has no fixed time to take place. It creates problems of far reaching consequences in the socio-economic condition of the country. Houses, mills, factories, industries, shops, hospitals all fall a victim to it. The running mills, factories and industries come to a stand still and no production can be possible during the load-shedding. Domestic life becomes painful. The tragic problems take place when serious patients do not get the facilities of the electricity. The students cannot be attentive because of extreme hot weather. In fact, load shedding causes great sufferings to the people and an irreparable loss to the country. We have to take some steps to stop load-shedding. The government can play a major role to stop load shedding. Some more power plants should be established. Besides, there are misuses of electricity. If people are conscious and do not waste electricity, it would be very much helpful to solve the problem.







A SCHOOL MAGAZINE

A school magazine is a periodical published by a school. It is to be published every year, but in fact, it is published after two or three years. There are many schools that never publish it. A school magazine contains the writings of the students and the teachers of the school. There are short stories, poems, prose, jokes, cartoons, travelogues and miscellaneous collections. In order to publish the school magazine, a magazine committee is formed. The headmaster remains the chief patron; two or three senior teachers are nominated as editors by the headınaster. Sub-editors are chosen from the senior-most students. The business editor has to collect money for the publication by selling spaces for advertisement. Students are asked to submit their writings by a particular date which are edited by the editors. A school magazine is a creative journal which helps the students to express their feelings and thoughts. It stimulates their imagination and develops their creative faculty. Thus a school becomes a training ground for literary composition of the students. So, a school magazine has a great importance to students' life.
